2010 - 2011 Season
Saturday 29th May 2010 brought the end of the Monmouth and District Pool League's 25th Season. Finals night saw three finals (Singles, Team and Plate Knock Outs) - the Doubles final had been played out earlier in the week.
Singles Final - Jason Oliver Beat Luke Beard 5 Frames to 2 (Jason has now won the Mens Singles on 3 occasions)
Doubles Final - Jason Oliver & Mark Wilding beat Nick Bell and Paul Wooding
Plate Knock Out - Mighty 8 B beat the Rebellions 5 frames to 4
Team Knock Out - The Curry Knights beat The Golf Inn 5 Frames to 2.
It would be remiss of me not to express my sincere and grateful thanks to a few key people that helped me out so much with the organising and staging of this year's Finals Night.
Karen Turley for the provision of yet another excellent buffet - Robin Mansell for his help in getting the tables set up (I know that there were issues with settlement of the tables, but that is always going to be an issue with non-permanent tables - From the frames of pool I saw, I believe that the tables did not have a significant impact on the outcomes, and that the best was made of a non-ideal situation)
Mike Maroney (The Golf Inn) for lending us the use of his tables (again) - without which playing pool is made significantly more difficult.
Jason Oliver, Steve Porter, Paul Wooding, Jaime Jones, and Nick Bell for their invaulable assistance in helping return the tables to the Golf Inn.
Many people will have seen a communication at Finals Night from Rob Hullett. Rob has previously run Monmouth League a number of years ago - From snippets of converstaions over-heard last night, I believe there may be some mis-interpretations as to what Rob is proposing. I think it only fair that any teams wanting to play in the Monmouth League next season, and those teams are not absolutely clear as to what is proposed, that appropriate arrangements and representations be made to Rob (Ideally before start of Next season). If Rob doesn't get to know what people want, then how can one reasonably expect Rob and his team to deliver what you want.
As for me, I won't be giving up Pool completely (just the running of the League). Good Luck Rob and your team for the future.
